This week I am eagerly anticipating:

glitter

Glitter by Aprilynne Pike

Publisher: Random House Books for Young Readers

Publication Date: October 25th, 2016

Summary:

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Aprilynne Pike comes a truly original new novel—Breaking Bad meets Marie Antoinette in a near-future world where the residents of Versailles live like it’s the eighteenth century and an almost-queen turns to drug dealing to save her own life.

Outside the palace of Versailles, it’s modern day. Inside, the people dress, eat, and act like it’s the eighteenth century—with the added bonus of technology to make court life lavish, privileged, and frivolous. The palace has every indulgence, but for one pretty young thing, it’s about to become a very beautiful prison.
When Danica witnesses an act of murder by the young king, her mother makes a cruel power play . . . blackmailing the king into making Dani his queen. When she turns eighteen, Dani will marry the most ruthless and dangerous man of the court. She has six months to escape her terrifying destiny. Six months to raise enough money to disappear into the real world beyond the palace gates.
Her ticket out? Glitter. A drug so powerful that a tiny pinch mixed into a pot of rouge or lip gloss can make the wearer hopelessly addicted. Addicted to a drug Dani can sell for more money than she ever dreamed.
But in Versailles, secrets are impossible to keep. And the most dangerous secret—falling for a drug dealer outside the palace walls—is one risk she has to take.

Why am I waiting?

Aprilynne Pike’s Wings series will always have a special place in my heart because it is the first work of fiction about faeries that I have read. It made me fell in love with those creatures and since then, books about faeries are my favorite fantasy reads.

Even though it’s been years since Wings came out, I still haven’t read any other book by Pike. I always wanted to try her other novels, so when I first saw the cover and read the synopsis for Glitter, I just knew that this will be my next read by this author.

Why am I waiting?

As you probably already know, Lindsey Kelk is one of my absolutely favorite authors. I loved every single book I read by her and she is the creator of the best chick lit series out there: I Heart.

I have been quetly stalking her for a while now (since I opened my twitter acc) and ever since I saw she was working on her new book, I was beyond excited to see what she prepared for us this time.

This book should be a bit different from her previous work because the story will be told from two POVs, one of them being from a guy.

Something tells me I’m going to love this one!

Why am I waiting?

When I first read the blurb I couldn’t help but think this would be a perfect romantic movie, if it ever gets to be filmed.

I can’t recall when was the last time I read a book about two old lovers meeting again after more then few years, and to be honest, I kind of feel like I need that kind of story in my life.

That is why I simply can’t wait to read The One That Got Away.

Plus, the cover is just too cute!!

Ever since I found out about this novel, I can’t get it out of my head.
There’s something about this book that is screaming at me that it is a book for me. I can’t even describe it.

The next day, someone else has written back to her on the desk! Soon enough Lily and the mystery student are exchanging notes, and lyrics, and even sharing secrets. Now that Lily knows the truth, can she untangle her feelings and gather the courage to listen to her heart?

From beloved author Kasie West (The Distance Between Us) comes an utterly charming story about mixed messages, missed connections, and the magic of good old-fashioned secret admirer notes.

Why am I waiting?

If you know me for some time now, you know that I often like to say that Kasie West is my ya contemporary queen.
I read all of her contemporary books so far and loved every single one of them.
Her books always put me in great mood, I love to reread them and I can’t get enough of her writing.
She also creates awesome characters that I want to befriend with.

Overall, when it comes to this genre, I can’t imagine anyone doing it better then West.

I just can’t wait to see what she cooked for us in her new novel.
I just KNOW I’ll devour this story!

Waiting on Wendesday (# Lucky 7): Who’s That Girl by Mhairi McFarlane

wow

Waiting on Wendesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. It spotlights upcoming releases we can’t wait to read.

This week I am eagerly anticipating:

who's that girl

Who’s That Girl by Mhairi McFarlane

Publisher: HarperCollins

Publication Date: April 7th, 2016

Summary (from Goodreads):

An achingly funny story from the author of the bestselling YOU HAD ME AT HELLO

What’s the one thing you DON’T do at a wedding?

When Edie is caught in a compromising position at her colleagues’ wedding, all the blame falls on her – turns out that personal popularity in the office is not that different from your schooldays. Shamed online and ostracised by everyone she knows, her boss suggests an extended sabbatical – ghostwriting an autobiography for hot new acting talent, Elliot Owen. Easy, right?

Wrong. Banished back to her home town of Nottingham, Edie is not only dealing with a man who probably hasn’t heard the word ‘no’ in a decade, but also suffering an excruciating regression to her teenage years as she moves back in with her widowed father and judgey, layabout sister.

When the world is asking who you are, it’s hard not to question yourself. Who’s that girl? Edie is ready to find out.

Why am I waiting?

When I saw one of my favorite authors, Lindsey Kelk, talk about this book and say she feels an “author jaleousy” when it comes to McFarlane’s writing, I knew I had to check it out. I mean, when an amazing author says she wishes she could write like that, that has to be something, right?

The premise of this book sounds really interesting and the sentence “Will make you laugh out loud.” makes me want to read it even more.

This chick-lit should be over 500 pages long, which means I’ll probalby spend a lot of time having fun while reading it.
I just can’t wait to finally read it!

Girl Against the Universe by Paula Stokes

Publisher: Harper Teen

Publication Date: May 17th, 2016

Summary (from Goodreads):

Maguire is bad luck.

No matter how many charms she buys off the internet or good luck rituals she performs each morning, horrible things happen when Maguire is around. Like that time the rollercoaster jumped off its tracks. Or the time the house next door caught on fire. Or that time her brother, father, and uncle were all killed in a car crash—and Maguire walked away with barely a scratch.

It’s safest for Maguire to hide out in her room, where she can cause less damage and avoid meeting new people who she could hurt. But then she meets Jordy, an aspiring tennis star. Jordy is confident, talented, and lucky, and he’s convinced he can help Maguire break her unlucky streak. Maguire knows that the best thing she can do for Jordy is to stay away. But it turns out staying away is harder than she thought.

From author Paula Stokes comes a funny and poignant novel about accepting the past, embracing the future, and learning to make your own luck.

Why am I waiting for this book?

This book sounds so appealing. Since I really like ya contemporary, I couln’t help but notice it. I’ve heard great things about Stokes’ debut novel, The Art of Lainey, which makes me want to check this author out even more.

The thrilling conclusion to the breakout Malediction Trilogy by Goodreads Choice finalist Danielle L. Jensen.

But it might not be enough. Both Cécile and Tristan have debts, and they will be forced to pay them at a cost far greater than they had ever imagined.

Why am I waiting for this book?

The Malediction Triology is my absolutely favorite on-going series. This is the last installment and, even though I am very sad to say goodbye to this wonderful world and amazing characters, I really, really want to know how everything is gonna wrap up in the end.
