This post is long overdue, but as I already said many times before: better late then never.
Back in April Katherine Arden visited Croatia and had promotion of her Winternight series.
Arden’s books are very popular in my country so having a foreign author promoting her work was a big deal. Naturally, I wanted to go.
I went with my friend Monika who adores Winternight Trilogy (and who introduced me to these books).
It was really interesting to hear Katherine talk about her journey to become published author and how she got ideas for her books, but also how her own life reflected on her writing.
She also talked briefly about her on going middle grade series Small Spaces.
In the end there was book signing where she took some time to chat with everyone who came and thank them.
It was a nice experience and I wish I could participate in book events and authors meets and greets more often.
If I lived in UK or US, I definitely would because I feel like there are book signings all the time.

I only went to one signing, and that was of Karin Slaughter. I live in the Netherlands, so there aren’t that many here. I read in English, and the authors that do a signing here are the ones whose books have been translated to Dutch. (which aren’t that many, unfortunately)
Who would you like to meet?
I would love to meet Amy Harmon, Tillie Cole, Karina Halle, Darynda Jones, and Krista & Becca Ritchie.
Also, have you already read The Bear and the Nightingale?
No, I haven’t yet. But it has been on my TBR list for a while now.

Hi, the same situation is here! I also read in English and many times the authors I prefer are not even published in Croatian, and those that are, don’t come to promote their books.

I have only been to one signing! I met Rebecca Donovan who was so extremely nice in Ann Arbor with a small group! I wish I could go to more, but I find not many authors come to Michigan!

What lovely photos of you and the author and you and your friend. It sounds like a great day to meet the author and that she would spend time chatting with you all.
I haven’t been to any book signings or meet and greets. I would like to meet Nicola May, Sophie Kinsella and any of the good crime authors I’ve read. It would be interesting to hear how they come up with dark twisted plots if they are relatively normal themselves 😃.

A friend of mine in England met her before. She got her autograph on a flyer for me which was cool. I would love it if she came to Scotland. Maybe one day she will.

I am always jealous of those who meet the authors that I read. I loved this series and would have loved to meet her and listen to her speak. You are so lucky.
