Review:

Holly Martin made me fall in love. I am in love with Christmas! I want to go there, have a nice vacation, watch merrie dancers, feed reindeers and hang out with village people. I’d also like to eat some delicios food.
Too bad this place called Christmas exists only in imagination, because I am sure it would be a hit, a place so many people would love to visit one day.

It is September, but my Christmas Spirit is fully awake!  Holly Martin can take the blame, but let me tell you the true: I don’t mind. Not at all!

As you might already know, I am a HUGE fan of festive stories. Christmassy/wintery books are my absolutely favorite to read, especially when it’s cold outside.
When I got a chance to read Christmas Under a Cranberry Sky I was thrilled.
This summer I read Martin’s Summer at Rose Island and fell in love with her writing style, so I had a strong feeling I’d enjoy this novel too.

Of course, I was right. The writing style was amazing but simple, easy to read, just as it should be when it comes to chicklits.

One thing that is the most incredible when it comes to this story is the setting. The way Martin described winter, the place and the atmosphere felt almost magical.

The characters were pretty likeable.  Piper‘s life was not easy and you could tell it had shaped her as a person.
I liked the chemistry between her and Gabe and it was nice to watch how they overcame things that went wrong between them.
Wren was such a good child, sometimes even too good for a four year old if you ask me.

However, my utterly favorite were Leo with his gang (those were small savage ponies that disturbed people).
I wouldn’t mind to cross my paths with them one day.

Overall, if you are looking for a read that will wake up your Chrisitmas Spirit, Christmas Under a Cranberry Sky is a perfect choice.
I certainly enjoyed it and now I’m looking forward to read the sequel when it comes out next month.

      2. Don’t worry, they are scary for middle graders! At least those I read when I was in middle grade. But tbh, I scared the shit out of myself when I read Don’t Forget Me, so now I’m curious if I’ll get chills when I’ll read it for Halloween! 😀

      5. Ah yeah, I tend to have that with TV shows I used to watch as a kid. Look at them now and they seriously suck BALLS ! I hope it’ll be different for the book, though ;).

    1. It was a good novella, but tbh I think that lovers of festive movies will enjoy it the most. Because you get to imagine everything from snow to reindeers, to little puppies, if you know what I mean.
      Ohh, tbh, I adore christmassy stories. I could watch festive movies and read festive books all year long!

  4. I’m a HUGE fan of Christmas myself!! In fact, this is my favorite holiday! Besides, the combination of Christmas and romance is a GREAT one!

    This novel sounds like such a sweet, romantic story, too. The cover is SO cozy…..I can almost feel the warmth of the fire, the hot chocolate in the cup I’m holding in my hands, as the snow softly falls outside…. Oh, I wish I were there!!

  6. I picked this title up a few months ago, not long after it was reviewed/featured on With Love For Books. …And to be honest, I haven’t really thought about it since! I’d only recently purchased my first little Kindle, and I was furiously downloading books left and right.

    But now… I need this book. More than ever, and more than anything, I need this book. It’s like what you said: to “wake up [one’s] Christmas Spirit.” And not only has mine been asleep, so to speak; it’s been damaged and worn thin.

    I’m so glad that I happened to notice this title while browsing your blog. Thank you for the lovely review, and for the very timely reminder of this little gem.
