The Glittering Court by Richelle Mead

Publisher: Razorbill

Publication date: April 5th, 2016

Summary (from Goodreads):

A dazzling new fantasy series set in a mix of Elizabethan and frontier worlds that’s dripping with romance from Richelle Mead, #1 internationally bestselling author of Vampire Academy.

Big and sweeping, spanning the refined palaces of Osfrid to the gold dust and untamed forests of Adoria, The Glittering Court tells the story of Adelaide, an Osfridian countess who poses as her servant to escape an arranged marriage and start a new life in Adoria, the New World. But to do that, she must join the Glittering Court.

Both a school and a business venture, the Glittering Court is designed to transform impoverished girls into upper-class ladies capable of arranging powerful and wealthy marriages in the New World. Adelaide naturally excels in her training and even makes a few friends: the fiery former laundress Tamsin and the beautiful Sirminican refugee Mira. She manages to keep her true identity hidden from all but one: the intriguing Cedric Thorn, son of the wealthy proprietor of the Glittering Court.

When Adelaide discovers that Cedric is hiding a dangerous secret of his own, together, they hatch a scheme to make the best of Adelaide’s deception. Complications soon arise—first, as they cross the treacherous seas from Osfrid to Adoria, and later, when Adelaide catches the attention of a powerful governor.

But no complication will prove quite as daunting as the potent attraction simmering between Adelaide and Cedric. An attraction that, if acted on, would scandalize the Glittering Court and make them both outcasts in wild, vastly uncharted lands. . . .

Why am I waiting for this book?

Richelle Mead is my favorite writer, she is the author of my all-time favorite book series: Vampire Academy.

I can’t even tell you how curious I am when it comes to this novel, how exciting is the though that I will be exploring a new world Mead created.

The hype around this book is already pretty crazy even though we have more then two months to wait until it finally comes out.

  1. I’m so torn with Mead’s writing. She wrote two of my favorite characters ever (Sydney and Adrian), but at the end of the Bloodlines series, they didn’t even feel like themselves anymore. I’ll probably give this one a shot, the description sounds interesting enough.

    1. She also created my favs: Adrian, Christian and basicly I really loved everyone from VA, you’re right about the end of Bloodlines, plus I feel like so many quetions weren’t answered.
      This does sound interesting!

    1. Even Richelle said sth like that. I know there’s official penguin (or Razorbill) page where you can read more then 100 pages of the book. I started it but then stopped rerading because it’ll be too difficult for me to handle the fact that I don’t have the rest of the story.

  2. I love Richelle Mead’s writing. I’ve read VA, but haven’t finished Bloodlines series yet. I have Soundless, but I haven’t read it yet. I’ve seeen the mixed reviews and keep putting it off because I don’t want to be disappointed. I’m really looking forward to this one too! Great pick! Thanks for visiting my WoW!

  3. I haven’t read any of Richelle’s books yet, but I did get a chapter sampler of this at Yallfest and I bought a copy of Soundless there too. She’s definitely an author whose books I am interested in reading.

I hope you enjoy this book when you read it!

  5. I want to read this one! I want to read this one like right now. I will not however open the first 11 chapters and read it before release date. That happened once and my heart couldn’t handle the wait afterward.

    1. Me too! I opened it but decided to wait until I have the whole book in my hands. I’ll probably read those chapter two days before so I can just continue on 5th (let’s just hope TBD will deliver it on time).

  7. Although I was disappointed with Soundless I am pretty excited about The Glittering Court. I loved the Vampire Academy and Bloodlines series and while I’m sure this will be different, I hope the character’s personality will be better than Fei’s (Soundless). Great pick!

  8. Oh my gods, I love stories about girls pretending to be someone else so they can escape some kind of situation or be safe from something/someone, love it! Like, Goose Girl by Shannon Hale is one of my favorite books EVER. I need to check this one out.

  9. Is it bad that I still haven’t gotten around to The Vampire Academy series? I’ve heard really great things about the author and will look into adding this one to my TBR.
